Baritone electric guitar with 27.7" scale length and two PRS SE 85/15 "S" humbuckers, including gig bag
As a baritone electric guitar, the PRS SE 277 Charcoal Burst has an extra long 27.7-inch scale, which allows even extremely deep tunings to be reproduced precisely. With a mahogany body, a maple top with a beautiful flamed maple veneer and a set mahogany neck in "Wide Fat" profile, the PRS SE 277 also follows Paul Reed Smith's classic design, with bird-inlays in a rosewood fingerboard completing the typical style. With two PRS 85/15 "S", the baritone guitar delivers precise clean and overdrive sounds with a harmonious balance of bass and treble on the guitar amp. Last but not least, a PRS Plate-Style-Bridge and precise Die-Cast tuners complete the PRS SE 277 Charcoal Burst.
With its extra long 27.7-inch scale and PRS 85/15 "S" pickups, the PRS SE 277 Charcoal Burst precisely reproduces even extremely low tunings.
Extra-Long Baritone Scale
The decisive design feature of the PRS SE 277 is the extra-long scale, which allows the strings to vibrate over a length of 27.7 inches (704 mm). Accordingly, the strings retain their tension even in extremely low tunings, which means that each note is represented with precise articulation. The classic construction with mahogany and maple for body and top as well as a glued maple neck promises a crisp primary tone with high midrange presence. Another visual highlight is the flamed maple veneer of the top, whose magnificent grain is brought to life by the transparent Fire Red Burst finish.
PRS SE 85/15 Humbucker
The PRS SE 277 Baritone 2018 uses two PRS 85/15 "S" humbuckers as pickups, which are wound on the model of the American models of the same name and, with their modern sound, perfectly match the character of this electric guitar. The neck pickup delivers a warm sound with soft bass, warm mids and silky highs that makes every note sing, whether clean or overdrive. The bridge pickup, on the other hand, convinces with its broadband sound image, whose taut basses, focused mids and brilliant highs also make extremely deep riffs and solos audible with rich pressure and high tone definition. The pickups are classically managed via 3-way toggle switches as well as master volume and master tone controls.
Plate Style Bridge
Paul Reed Smith uses a Plate Style Bridge on the PRS SE 277 Baritone 2018 with string guidance through the body, which contributes significantly to the fast and precise sound development of the electric guitar. In addition, the flat bridge provides a comfortable resting surface for the hand when playing the guitar. The strings are held on the head plate by six die-cast mechanisms, which convince with precise running and high tuning stability.
