Five-string SignatureBass for Ida Nielsen
After her studies at the Royal Danish Academy, Ida Nielsen became known to a worldwide audience primarily as the bassist of Prince. For her virtuosic style between funky slaps and pushing grooves, she has been swearing by electric basses from the Braunschweig cult forge Sandberg for quite some time. With the Sandberg California TM5 Ida Nielsen, they tailor-made a 5-string Signature bass according to her ideas. The classically designed fifth string bass features a birdseye maple fretboard, SandbergBlack label pickups with active 2-band EQ and indestructible hardware appointments from Sandberg in a uniform gold finish.
The Sandberg California TM5 Ida Nielsen was manufactured according to the specifications of the Danish bassist and convinces with excellent sound and noble appearance.
The six-way bolting guarantees a stable connection between the maple neck and the alder body.
Classically constructed five-string with classy accents.
For the construction of the California Ida Nielsen SignatureBassSandberg relies on traditional tonewoods in the form of an alder body and six-piece maple neck, which are complemented by a fingerboard made of precious bird's-eye maple. The vibration treatment to which the Bass is subjected after completion ensures a lively, appealing sound character that can hardly be distinguished from an optimally played instrument. The pleasantly flat "C" neck profile allows both fast slaps and virtuoso runs to come out of the fingers with ease. In addition to the large block inlays, practical fluorescent side dots in the fretboard flank help with orientation between the 22 frets.
Sandberg Black Label pickups and an active 2-band tone control give the Sandberg Ida Nielsen Bass a variable sound spectrum.
Sandberg Black Label pickups and active electronics
For the electric sound conversion of her Signature bass guitar Ida Nielsen wanted high quality pickups from the Sandberg Blacklabel series, where a fat Blacklabel humbucker is used at the bridge, while a classic "T" single coil sits in the middle position. Together with the blend control, the pickup deliver a variable spectrum of powerful sounds that convince with agile articulation and high transparency both when slapping, as well as when playing with fingers or plectrums. The active 2-band electronics promises finely nuanced possibilities for the optimal adjustment of the sound character. If required, the Bass can also be played passively, with the treble control acting as a passive tone control.
Five Sandberg Machine Heads in gold finish reliably hold the tuning and offer a pleasant overdrive ratio for precise tunings.
High-quality gold hardware, optical highlights
Perfectly matched to the Sandberg California TM5 Ida Nielsen, gold-plated Hardware rounds out the five-stringer's features. On the body side, the strings are held by the Sandberg Bridge 5, which with its solid construction contributes to the character-rich sonority of the Basses and, thanks tothree-dimensional adjustment options, allows optimal intonation as well as string position and spacing. furthermore, five Sandberg Machine Heads enable fast and precise tuning processes and reliable tuning stability on stage and in the studio. A visual highlight is the unique pickguard, under whose transparent surface is finely patterned Asian silk.
The pickguard with real silk sets visual accents together with the gold hardware.
