The EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption is an authentic replica of that homemade electric guitar in the distinctive striped finish that Eddie van Halen used for the recording of the "Eruption" solo and the cover photo of the first Van Halen album. Accordingly, the electric guitar in the classic Strat style convinces not only with an unmistakable appearance but also with the typical Van Halen sound and excellent playing characteristics for virtuoso solos and tapping at the highest level. In addition to the basswood body in a striped Relic finish, the Striped Series '78 Eruption features a grippy maple neck with Eddie's favourite C-shape and a hot Wolfgang humbucker to keep the guitar amp steaming. Last but not least, a Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo and Gotoh tuners complete the Striped Series '78 Eruption electric guitar from EVH.
The EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption is an exact replica of the legendary guitar used by Eddie Van Halen to record the Eruption solo and featured on the cover of the first Van Halen album.
The comfortable Quartersawn Maple neck in the "EVH Modified C" profile is screwed to the linden body using the classic method.
Super Strat with Relic Finish
To reproduce the look and feel of the original "Eruption" guitar as closely as possible, EVH follows the characteristic specifications of the original. Thus, the linden body wears a Relic Finish, which not only conveys the feel of a perfectly played-in guitar but also accurately recreates the black and white stripe pattern. With the "EVH Modified C" profile and the compound radius of the fingerboard, the bolt-on neck made of stable Quartersawn Maple offers first-class playing characteristics and the best conditions for virtuoso tapping solos.
With an EVH Wolfgang humbucker, the Striped Series '78 Eruption delivers that signature Van Halen sound.
Wolfgang Humbucker
The electrical sound transformation of the EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption is handled by a single EVH Wolfgang humbucker in bridge position. Eddies Klangvorgaben matching the pickup sets the guitar amplifier with an increased output under steam and delivers respectful distortion sounds, which cut through the Mix with accentuated midrange focus and even at maximum distortion every note cleanly articulated to the ear. But also in the clean channel, the Wolfgang humbucker can convince with a powerful and finely resolved output. The pickup is controlled with a smooth EVH/Bourns low-friction volume control, whose classic skirt knob is of course labeled "Tone".
Gotoh tuners with EVH logo guarantee accurate and stable tuning of Striped Series '78 Eruption.
Authentic hardware equipment
Of course, authentic hardware equipment completes the EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption electric guitar. The bridge is a classic 6-saddle Vintage-Style Synchronized Strat Tremolo, which not only convinces with its smooth handling, but also supports the sound character of the electric guitar with its solid brass block and string riders made of bent sheet steel. On the large Seventies-style headstock, Gotoh tuners with EVH branding also ensure accurate and robust tuning of the guitar.
