With the Hughes & Kettner SPIRIT AmpMan Classic, the amp manufacturer from Saarland presents a practical two-channel guitar amplifier in a pedal format, which thanks to the innovative Spirit tone generator comes up with first-class vintage clean and classic rock sounds.
At the heart of the Hughes & Kettner AmpMan Classic is undoubtedly the innovative Spirit tone generator, which, in conjunction with the sagging control available in each channel, delivers the authentic compression and breakup behaviour of a full-blown tube amplifier. The Vintage channel covers the entire range of American and British clean sounds, while the Rock channel offers sufficient gain reserves for British-influenced blues and classic rock. To adjust the sound, each channel has controls for Gain, Tone, Resonance, Presence and Volume.
In addition, the Hughes & Kettner Amp Man offers two master volumes that, in conjunction with the solo footswitch, allow you to set and recall different volume levels. The integrated Intelligent Dual Breakpoint Noise Gate also eliminates unwanted hum and noise at high volume and gain settings, while the switchable FX loop allows you to loop your own effects devices into the signal path.
Despite its compact format, the AmpMan Classic from Hughes & Kettner comes with a 50-watt solid-state power amplifier, with which the pedal amp releases surprisingly powerful volume reserves, especially on large guitar speaker cabinets, making it ideal for band rehearsals or club gigs. As a practical highlight, the pedal amplifier for electric guitar offers a Red Box AE+ DI solution that enables direct miking of the signal with natural sound character using eight selectable speaker simulations.
First impressions are very good indeed. This pedalboard size offers some great sounds, hook it up to a cabinet, use a headphone or the direct out into your DAW.
Definitely a keeper and highly recommended.
