The Ibanez RG8-BK is an 8-string electric guitar that represents the first time a guitar of this type has been available at such an affordable price point. With a slim 5-piece Wizard II-8 neck and 27” scale length combined with a pair of IBZ-8 pickups and a fixed bridge, the RG8-BK is built with one purpose in mind – to rock in a very low tuning.
The extended scale length and stock string gauge means this guitar is ideally suited to the factory tuning of F, A#, D#, G#, C#, F#, A# and D# - the tuning favoured by many 8 string aficionados such as Meshuggah and Deftones.
With a slick black finish, simple volume and tone controls and 24 frets, the Ibanez RG8-BK is a force to be reckoned with at this price – it offers the aspiring djent player the ultimate leg-up into the world of extreme tunings.
The main features of the Ibanez RG8-BK include:
Probably the best 8-string for its price. Pickups are not bad, but you may want to replace it. Thin neck perfectly fits in your hand. Volume knob is located inconveniently for my playing style, so i swapped it with tone knob and get rid of it.
This 8-strings guitar is the most "value for price" instrument by far in this category. Its stable at standard tuning, while the amazing Ibanez neck is "strong", tight and fast enough with matte finish for even faster movement up and down the fretboard, and considering the technology of Ibanez guitars its price seems almost a joke!!! Surely no other cheaper instrument at this price range.
