The volca sample from Korg is a performance-oriented sample player with integrated step sequencer. The enlarged sample memory now holds 200 samples, which can be integrated into 16 patterns of 10 tracks each with eight-voice polyphony. The Korg volca sample comes from the factory with 150 fresh sounds, 50 additional sample slots are kept free for the user, but all 200 entries can be overwritten with your own sounds. As with all models of the volca series, the concept of the sample invites you to constantly act and create new sounds. The flexible sequencer supports this by playing in parameter locks. Newly added is the pattern chain mode and the start delay, which shifts the starting point of individual tracks step by step. With the new Micro-USB port, the volca sample can be connected to a computer (PC & Mac) for control and sample management. It can also be used to control it directly from a DAW. With the Korg Librarian software, all actions are quickly done to exchange samples and make detailed settings. Via the iOS app "Audiopocket", which is also available free of charge, new samples can be recorded with the iPhone and transferred to the device.

Great product, definitely an old-school vibe with this Volca, but it has more depth than might be expected (which is kind of standard for the Volca series). I'd go so far as to say that this is an essential purchase if you're looking at a multi-Volca setup.
