Now with standalone sequencer, Easy Start & even better Ableton support
Novation revamps its popular LaunchpadPro and adds new features; never before has a controller been so deeply integrated with Ableton! The Novation Launchpad Pro MKIII Grid Performance now supports Transport Control, TapTemp and PrinttoClip, allowing MIDI sequences to be recorded directly into Ableton. The Capture MIDI mode can also record any input in the background, ensuring that no idea is lost. Furthermore, the new Chord mode allows the creation of complex chords directly from the pads. This gives users access to an intuitive composition tool for expressive surface sounds for the first time.
As before, all pads on the Novation Launchpad Pro MKIII Grid Performance can be programmed completely freely via the included editor and the assignment can be visualized via an individual color palette. You can make up to 8 multiple assignments and switch between them in real time (Those are the colorful buttons just below the pads). The pads themselves have been redesigned again from their predecessor to support mono and polyphonicaftertouch, are velocity sensitive, and automaticallydetect when a drum beat is being drummed in; the Drum kit is then displayed on the pads. Conversely, clips from Ableton can also be visualized in color on the grid.
Complex chords - intuitively created
Looks complicated, but makes it much easier: The note mode
The Novation Launchpad Pro MKIII Grid Performance is the ideal controller for computer-basedor hardware-based music making. A 4-track sequencer with 32 stepspolyphonically controls software instruments, hardware synthesizers, drum machines or an entire modular system via MIDI-Out and USB - or all at the same time. Basslines or leads can also be played in via the pads without any problems, because the Launchpad automatically adjusts the input to the scale and key of the song.
Direct access to all MIDI functions is possible at any time via the parameter buttons on the right side. The user can easily achieve a livelier performance via the probability, mutation and micro-step functions. A quantization function, change of the sequence as well as direct access to the velocity are naturally included. In addition, program and parameter commands can be sent directly to your hardware and to Ableton. So the Novation Launchpad Pro MKIII Grid-Performance is a complete control center that combines all the functions of your equipment in one place - even without a computer: the sequences are stored directly in the device.
Is all this too complicated for you? No problem: The new Launchpad contains the Easy Start Tool, a new type of learning function that introduces you step by step to all the possibilities and functions. So you won't miss any feature of this extraordinary and complex device!

I’ve been using Ableton Live for years with many different bits of hardware, this is a massive leap forward in ease of use and speed. If you use Ableton you need either this or the Push 2.
It works seamlessly with Ableton Live 11, and the four-track sequencer is a welcome addition. If this device had also a couple of cv/gate pairs and sync I/O it would be simply perfect, maybe Mk4? I'd recommend it for users who already know their DAW, as learning both things at the same time and the way both interact can be quite a mouthful.
