On the Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV1, for the first time on a Pioneer DJ controller, the pitch faders have been positioned at the top of the deck sections and rotated horizontally to simulate a battle turntable setup. The performance pads have been placed in the mixer section along with the FX paddles, as found on DJM-S series mixers. This allows users to change the sound to their liking during performance. The spacious layout provides ample room to try out a wide variety of mixing techniques. Scratching is easier to implement with the jog wheels, which are significantly larger than previous controllers in the entry-level segment, and also convey a much better feel! If users are thinking about getting into battle mixing and scratching, the Pioneer DDJ-REV1 is the perfect entry-level device!
Large jog wheels:
The bigger the jog wheels, the better they are for scratching! The jog wheels built into the DDJ-REV1 offer amazingly good handling at a size of approx. 6 inches (154 mm) and make back cueing and scratching very easy!
Tracking Scratch:
The "Tracking Scratch" feature lets the track or scratch sample automatically jump back to the first cue point as soon as the jog wheel is no longer touched. This makes it easier for beginners to access scratching, motivates them and quickly gives them a sense of achievement in performance.
Lever FX:
With the "Lever FX", dynamic textures can be added to the music. When the FX paddles are dragged down and held, Serato DJ Lite's effects are activated for that duration. When the FX paddles are pushed up, the effect is activated permanently so that users have their hands free for scratching or selecting tracks.
Microphone sound in the audio mix:
Another first for Pioneer DJ controllers in this class is that the master signal is mixed with the signal from the microphone when it is connected. This means that users do not need external devices such as a sound card or a separate mixer when adding speech or vocals to the performance. The signals are sent to Serato DJ Lite, allowing users to stream directly through the software.
