The Norwegian pianist and composer Edvard Grieg brought his homeland to the attention of everyone during the late Romantic period. In his piano, chamber and vocal music, as well as in his stage music and orchestral suites, he took his cue from Norwegian folk music and made it accessible to a wide audience. By the end of the 19th century he was one of the most listened to musicians and popularized the musical world of Norway. Even today, melodies such as "Morgenstimmung" are universally known and popularly interpreted.
My First Grieg gives up-and-coming pianists the opportunity to play the works of the Norwegian virtuoso. These can also be easily integrated into lessons to make them exciting and historical. Included in the music book are easy to intermediate pieces from Op. 12, 38, 43, 47, 54, 68, and 71, as well as three pieces from the Peer Gynt Suites, Op. 46 and 55. A gateway into the world of a great artist.
