The Vintage Reissued VJ74PL Purple comes in a classic offset design and turns out to be a true groove workhorse with a versatile sound, thanks to classic woods and Wilkinson pickups. Accordingly, Vintage the traditional ash body and a screwed maple neck, whose slender profile allows every bass line on the rose plywood fingerboard to go by itself. Two Wilkinson WOJB single coil pickups in combination with the classic passive circuitry of two volume and one tone controls guarantee versatile sounds for almost every musical style. Last but not least the Vintage Reissued VJ74PL Purple is equipped with a 4-saddle bass bridge and precise Wilkinson WJBL200 mechanics.

Impressive quality for the price, decent fretwork, straight and very playable neck. I.e. string height/action can be set low. Quite bright ceramic pickups, so for me there will be a change to some alnico vintage style pickups (I.e. the overall quality makes it worth some additional investments). Other electronics and hardware feels solid. Like all instruments (in my opinion), the factory strings should be replaced immediately, although on this bass the strings are actually quite playable (feels like maybe some cheaper daddario’s or Dunlop’s). This is, off course, again personal preference, as I prefer softer feeling DR Sunbeams.. highly recommended well built instrument.
