The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus Power Supply will filter, regulate, isolate, and protect using an audiophile quality linear power supply for consistently stable, clean, pure power.
The Pedal Power 2 Plus uses a custom designed, ultra-low noise toroidal transformer with separate balanced windings for every output so even the most sensitive pedals can be dead quiet.
Ground loops cause hum and the solution is to break the unwanted ground path. Isolation is the best way to do it. Pedal Power 2 Plus isolates every output which eliminates tone robbing interaction between units. Now you can properly power everything from vintage overdrives to modern digital pedals.
The main features of the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus Power Supply include;
Prior to purchasing the PP2, I used a Boss daisy chain from my TU3. Talk about noisy!! However, the PP2 works wonderfully: build quality is excellent, and it works exactly as advertised. I power seven pedals from it. In addition to eliminating the awful ground noise, they all sound better than before. And the sag feature is a nice addition for overdrive pedals.
The only small criticism Id make is that they dont include the 18v cable, so if you use a pedal which requires 18v, be aware that youll have to purchase one.
Highly, highly recommended if you use more than one or two effect pedals.
The PP2 is, as many have stated, a perfect solution to powering multiple effect pedals. I can add my voice to theirs. The key features are the total of 1100mA output (in my opinion over 1000mA is crucial) and the fully isolated 8 outputs. You will find power bricks with more outputs but you will find very few that are fully isolated like this. This results in no ground noise whatsoever (and I am using EHX, VL and ZVEX pedals)
I mounted mine onto a PT2 board using the brackets provided with the board. It was easy and quick but make sure to drill your holes correctly the first time - there is very little room for error! European users will need to use the exact right drill bit - the PP2 is made in the US and recommends a 1/8 inch bit, European users may find this hard to find. As 1/8 inch actually equals 3.175mm it can be hard to find the perfect drill bit to mount acurately. Just watch out for this when mounting the board.
Once mounted the SAG buttons are hard to reach (this was of no consequence to me but it might be an issue for you)
The connectors provided easily reach all corners of a pedaltrain 2 so there should be no connection issues for you (I was worried with some pedals having side connectors but this was no problem).
Excellent product.
I use this live and practicing, it obviously never leaves my board!
The isolated outputs really do make a difference hum-wise. I mean, compared to a daisy chain, this thing makes all the noisy pedals very quiet!
The fact that you can change voltages for each outlet is great and makes this a must have!
I guess the price is a little steep but for musicians that play live 4-5 nights a weeks this is a no brainer. Less cables, less noise, less troubles!
The only thing that I would point out as being "bad" is that the 18V cable is not included!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who uses more than 2-3 pedals!
When it comes to powering your pedals you want safety and no noise. Thats why this is one of the best, if not the best, power supply for your pedals out there.
Its kinda expensive, but I want safety and no noise, so I went for this one over the others available.
A great thing is that it comes with the cables, so you shouldnt worry about that. Its also made to fit perfectly on a pedaltrain 2, which is great, it fits under the board and its nice and clean.
I dont have any noise issues, so thats good.
Pretty sturdy, and well built provides 8 outputs, but you can daisy chain some if you want (but it can produce noise then)
So I recommend you to save up for this, its a little bit expensive, but safe and definatelty worth it.
Cheers
