The Waldorf Streichfett is a dual sound engine polyphonic string synthesizer & monophonic 8-voice synth based on string synthesizers from the 70’s & 80’s.
The Waldorf Streichfett String Synthesizer features a dual sound engine with a polyphonic string section and a monophonic solo section, which can be layered with violin voicing. When coupled with the ensemble effect, this synthesizer can create anything from simple organ sounds all the way through to epic soundscapes with depth and tons of character. The Waldorf Streichfett also features a switchable envelope generator with variable ADSR functions, which adds further sonic capabilities to the synthesizer.
The Streichfett has three onboard effects; a phaser for creating large thick swells and to add a bit of funk to organ sounds, a reverb section for adding depth to the string section and adding natural character to the mono synth, and an animate function that acts as an automatic filter sweep or frequency modulation to add movement to the overall sound.
With twelve presets across three banks, this a great choice for live performers looking to add a bit of retro chic to their sonic arsenal.
The main features of the Waldorf Streichfett include:
Good price and good emulation retro strings machine.

An awesome little machine with some really interesting sound capabilities and great fun to tweak and play with the knobs and effects as you go...
Love it!
Beautiful sound with an easy and interesting interface. The sound takes you back to 70s and 80s string synths that till now haven't been that easy to recreate. The build quality isn't to the highest standard but the price tag and quality of sound over rides this issue. Straight out of the box the sound and feel is like the hay day of Jarre's Equinox or Vangelis' Blader Runner. The only little extra I think might have been nice, would be a filter onboard but it's a minor thing. If like me you love the string synth vibe of yester year then you won't go too far wrong with little box of tricks.
Purchased as a challenge: can the avant garde be persuaded they are not listening to a cheese machine. Early day, but the ideas are coming. Handling of separate MIDI channels for strings & solo seems quirky, though.
