The Behringer MIC2200 V2 follows in the long tradition of Behringer tube preamps and was already the best-selling preamplifier in the semi-professional sector with version 1. Each of the two channels has the typical functions of gain, output level, phantom power and phase inversion, and as a special feature a fully parametric equalizer band, which allows very precise frequency corrections to be made. In addition, there is a continuously adjustable high-pass filter to remove the bass wherever it is not needed and only causes noise in the mix.
The Ultragain Pro's tube stage gives each recorded signal more character, presence and assertiveness. It provides additional overtones and can be driven into saturation even at high gain values. Especially digital synthesizers or older samples benefit immensely from these features of the circuitry and can therefore usually be included in a mix with much less time-consuming post-processing at EQ or compressor. But also vocals or room microphones can be emphasized in the mix without having to increase the volume.
The Behringer MIC2200 V2 achieves a preamplification value of up to 80dB, so it can also be used for low-level microphones such as the Shure SM7B or ribbon microphones. However, apart from this, it enhances most home recording setups by providing better noise levels and a more musical amplification response. Especially singers will be pleased about such a sound improvement! You don't even have to buy a new microphone. But even budding producers and sound engineers can use the MIC2200 to get a feel for the possibilities of analogue studio equipment without having to make a large financial investment.
