The Brick Lane 500 is an analog PWM compressor that uses an innovative modal PWM compression architecture to provide versatile dynamics processing. Six different compression modes - Velvet, Float, Smash, Tame, Glue and Polish - offer different sound signatures and dynamic styles. The fully analogue signal path with PWM technology minimizes distortion and unwanted artefacts, while the "Analogue Lookahead" technology in Polish mode allows precise mastering limiting without latency.
The specially developed "Stress" control influences harmonic saturation and character depending on the selected mode. Attack and release times adapt dynamically, allowing the device to be used for everything from smooth Vari-Mu curves to fast FET response times. Four selectable sidechain HPF modes offer additional control over the compression behavior.
Thanks to Cranborne OptoSync technology, two devices can be used as a perfectly synchronized stereo pair, with wireless control via LED communication. Automatic calibration ensures that analog saturation paths are always optimally balanced. The robust design with 41-position detented controls and true bypass circuitry ensures precise and reliable operation.
With flexible input and output levels of ±20 dB, the degree of compression can be fine-tuned. The 12-segment LED meters for level and gain reduction provide detailed visual control. Developed for professional use in mixing, mastering and tracking, the device combines technological precision with versatile design options in dynamic processing.
