Filter module with high and low pass filter in Eurorack format
The FIL3 Spectral Devastator is a filter module with high and low pass filter in Eurorack format. It is a revised version of the popular FIL2 Spectral Devastator and has two filters that can be used independently. The FIL3 Spectral Devastator has a dirty sound with a strong character, but offers more control over the sound of the filter sections than its predecessor. A new feature are the Colour parameters, which can now be used to control the resonances of the filters. The Colour parameters also give the filters a non-linearity that can be used to further change the tone colour.
Also new are the blast switches that every filter has. While this control gives the filter core a linearization, it also emphasizes the resonance, giving the filter new sound possibilities. In addition, each filter now has Input Drive and Output Level controls. This gives the user more control over the signal level, which can become unpredictable with filters. With a stronger Input Drive a saturation of the signal occurs.
The Normalling switches of the FIL2 are still available and allow quick and easy patching between the high and low pass filters, for use in series or parallel. The Cutoff CV Depth now has an Attenuverter, offering increased modulation potential. The manual cutoff controls have also been improved so that the FIL3 has better control ranges than its predecessor while maintaining all its raw power.
