The Tune-Bot Studio from Overtone Labs is a drum tuner with color display, modern design and easy operation. It is the successor of the 2012 Tune-Bots. The Tune-Bot Studio allows easy tuning of the drum by simply clipping it to the hoops.
The Overtone Labs Tune Bot Studio is innovative and easy to use, thanks to fewer buttons and a color LCD display. The pitch of the drum can be recorded as a note and frequency and then stored. The principle of tuning toms, snare or bass drums is very simple: the frequencies of each individual lug are measured and adjusted to each other. If the frequency is the same on all lugs, the drum is tuned cleanly. Furthermore, it is even possible to tune drums according to notes and to combine different note intervals in the drums. The frequency range, which is measured, was once again clearly adjusted upwards in contrast to the predecessor, so that even highly tuned drumsets are no longer a problem for the Tune Bot Studio.
The design is contemporary simple and the construction very robust, so it can also be taken to a concert without hesitation to tune the drums. The color LCD display is safe and easy to use even in the dark. A sturdy hard case and tuning key are also included.
the Tunebot is a great tool to help you fine tune your drums. if you have not used it before i suggest going on Youtube to watch a video on how to properly use it, as it can be confusing with some of the readouts. once you have gotten the hang of it, it definitly is worth the money. you can then try out other peoples settings which is a lot of fun.
It seems to work pretty well - can be a bit picky about tuning across the drum, but I just move it and then it's fine. Results are consistent, and the dial matches what I'm hearing.
Build quality seems decent enough, I'm not overly keen on the body being plastic, but it's not a big deal. The screen is bright and clear, the clip seems to work well enough. The little tub it comes in is a nice touch.
Overall, seems like a solid purchase. I've been tuning by ear for 15 years, this gets me the same results but faster - as an engineer, that makes it worth the cost, but for most drummers it's probably a bit pricey. To be fair though, Tension Watches are about the same, and I've always found them to be way less consistent/picky.
This tuner is very precise and easy to use once you get used to it. It is really nice to quickly make your drum kit sound good before a show or a recording thanks to the presets you can save in it. Very satisfied!
