The Sandberg California TT5 EB Black Highgloss from the Braunschweig instrument forge convinces as a classically designed electric bass with a variable all-round sound and the extended expression possibilities of a low B-string. Construction-wise an alder body and six-fret bolt-on maple neck with ebony fingerboard are used, while Delano JMVC FE/M2 pickup and an active 2-band tone control promise powerful and flexible bass sounds. A solidly built Sandberg Bridge 5 and precise Sandberg tuners complete the Sandberg California TT5 EB Black Highgloss.
The Sandberg California TT5 EB Black Highgloss impresses with classic construction and variable sounds.
The six-point bolting of neck and body is typical for Sandberg and promotes an even tone development.
Traditional construction for the crisp sound
For the body of the Sandberg California TT5, Sandberg chose alder, while the six-screw neck and the fretboard are made of maple and ebony. Accordingly, the 5-string Bass impresses with a crisp basic sound, whose precise tone representation also integrates the low B-string well-defined into the sound picture. When playing Bass the neck rests comfortably in the hand in the comfortably designed "C" profile, so that even complex bass lines can be realized with ease on the wide fretboard. The 22 frets, which are easy to navigate between thanks to the side dots in the fretboard edge, offer the usual tonal range.
Two Delano JVMC FE/M2 pickups and the active 2-band equalizer give the Sandberg California TT5 sonic diversity.
Variable sound thanks to Delano Pickups and active electronics
The pickups on the Sandberg California TT5 EB Black Highgloss are two Delano JMVC FE/M2 pickups in the 5-string version, which provide a versatile sound with a clean output of the low B-string. The bridge pickup delivers a wiry sound, which is noticeable with the assertiveness of its concise mids and trebles, while the pickup in middle position presses every groove into the pit of the stomach with a juicy bass foundation and clear trebles. Via the blend control both pickups can be mixed for a varied bass sound. To further adjust the tone, a harmonically tuned active 2-band tone control is also on board, which can be switched off via the push/pull switch in the volume control if desired.
With their low weight, the precisely acting Sandberg tuners prevent head heaviness.
Sophisticated Hardware from our own house
The hardware equipment of the Sandberg California TT5 EB Black Highgloss is supplied in-house and presents itself with thoughtful functionality. The solidly built Sandberg Bridge 5 ensures an even sound development and sustain. At the same time, thanks to the three-dimensionally adjustable tailpieces, not only can intonation and string action be perfectly adjusted, but the string spacing can also be adjusted to suit personal taste. At the headstock of the Sandberg California TT5 the strings run over a zero fret and saddle to the Sandberg tuners, which deliver absolute tuning stability and counteract head heaviness due to their low weight.
