The TC Electronic Clarity M Desktop Audiometer features stereo and 5.1 metering with a 7" high-resolution screen and six input channels. The Clarity M is an ideal audio toolbox for music creation and sound for picture, helping you make crucial mix and mastering decisions. Precise metering, as provided by the Clarity M, allows you to visually confirm specific details about your mix, making the process of setting optimum signal levels quicker and easier.
The Clarity M contains a wealth of dedicated meters that can help you improve your mix, and is equipped with a 7" high-resolution screen that produces maximum precision and definition in the readouts. This desktop audiometer connects seamlessly with your DAW workflow via a USB connection. With the visual feedback of your mix pushed to a permanent screen, you do not need to move plug-in windows around to have your sequencer, effects and meters all visible. The TC Electronic Clarity M supports plug-in metering via all modern plug-in standards, giving you the freedom to work with any DAW you prefer.
An included custom breakout cable hosts six channels of unbalanced AES3 digital audio that connects to your external mixing desk, console or audio interface for broadcast-grade 5.1 metering. Clarity M also provides a stereo optical input that lets you connect your audio interface through TOSlink. Lastly, this audiometer is suited for any studio environment as you are provided with an array of mounting options. It includes an integrated stand that makes it easy to place on any desktop, yet on the back of the TC Electronic Clarity M you'll find a pair of mounting holes, that provide compatibility with third party mounts such as the Tough Claw or suction cup mount from RAM Mounts (not included).
I use this constantly. Having a physical unit for metering has been so helpful in my workflow, you may argue that this can be done with a plugin, but having this as a reference point to observe at any given moment while mixing/mastering is so helpful. Latest software includes very useful phase correlation meter, stereo balance and frequency graph which is great for finding dominant areas. Love it!
Ok, after a few days i could say that I'm in love with this device. Very helpful from the beginning. You really learn what loudness means. Except my Ableton projects it's fun to metering YouTube videos, movies or just when you listen to music. It's well build and absolutely solid. Super accurate in metering 100%.
I had been looking for an analytical tool which provides accurate visual feedback about peaks , loudness, imaging etc for some time & here it is! I am one of those fools who insists on mixing down live from a desk & generally only work with digital audio for mastering & sampling. Initially discouraged by the unit's digital only inputs I was going to run my output signal through an old TC Electronics C300, in line, using the SPDIF output to feed into the Claritys M. But I made cost effective provision for separate A to D converter from the end of my output chain to the Clarity M's optical in & it works like a dream.
Was wondering if this was an extravagant accessory but must say that I agree with others that having a standalone reference point away from your main DAW environment makes a significant difference to defining the dynamics of your signals. At this price range it is also dynamite for small / home studios.
I have been using RME Totalyser for years and now this lovely little screen does everything I need plus a loudness meter, this always on display is freeing up valuable real estate on my screen.
Already noticing inter sample clipping whilst tracking which were missed before. The ability to monitor loudness whilst tracking seems to be the way to go these days.
