The Arturia BeatStep Pro (Black) is a MIDI Controller and Step Sequencer. It can be used as Drum Sequencer, Melodic Sequencer or as DAW Controller, if connected to a DAW via MIDI. The innovative operation allows for a flexible and easy workflow, so your ideas can be converted into audio files and tracks very simply. The BeatStep Pro features 16x pressure sensitive Step-Pads, which provide a clear user surface. The function as MIDI Controller expands the usage of the BeatStep Pro, the large collection of Knobs and Pads simplifying the operation with every Digital Audio Workstation.
For stage and the studio applications the BeatStep Pro is designed to perform at all times, whether you work with MIDI, USB, C/V Gate or DIN sync. Designed for hands-on hardware sequencing, the BeatStep Pro offers 2x fully independent melodic Sequencers and a Drum Sequencer. It also allows you to manage full performance, controlling Software Instruments, Analogue and Digital Synthesizers, Drum Machines, Drum Kits and iPad Apps.
The Sequencers offer up to 64x Steps per Sequence, with 16x Sequences per Project and 16x Projects. The additional Drum Sequencer allows for 16x separate Tracks of Sequencing. There are also a number of performance Effects such as a Looper with Touch Strip, Randomiser, Swing settings and other hands on control possibilities that are sure to make this a modern classic. The Controller Mode allows you to trigger Clips in your favourite DAW, play Drum sounds in a Module or adjust parameters in your favourite Plug-In.

A versatile and well-thought-through piece of kit – it's both a workstation and an intuitive and playable instrument in its own right. I was happily jamming away after just a few minutes, but there's still a lot more to explore.
Really solid build quality too.
