The Boss CS3 Compressor Effects Pedal compresses high-input signals while boosting low-input signals, giving you smooth sustain without degrading the quality of the original sound.
A range of effects from gentle compression to squeezed sounds is at your command. Designed for outstanding low-noise performance, the Boss CS3 also provides EQ for precise sonic control.

The CS-3 is a great compressor pedal for the price. It is very well built like all Boss products and is very easy to use thanks to the simple controls. It is a must have if you are playing a lot of clean chords and picking. It also works great if you want a bit more sustain on a solo or when used after a Wah Pedal to help even out any volume increases when the Wah is engaged. This pedal is more than adequate to gig with and while it might not be in the same league in terms of functions/performance as some of the more expensive higher-end professional level pedals (some pros do use the CS-3 though), it is more than adequate for the average player at home or in a band. My only complaint with this pedal is that it can be unpleasantly noisy through the amp (hums quite loudly) when engaged, though that said if you are investing in a compressor pedal you will more than likely have a noise gate or plan to acquire one (I use the NS-2) and the hum is reduced to barely audible. For the money, build quality and performance this little blue box is ahead of anything else in its price range.
I bought the Boss CS-3 as I know they are a reliable brand and take alot of punishment. I use it with my 73 Fender Mustang Bass, yes bass!! It gives me a great sound, exactly what i needed and I wont feel the need to upgrade any time soon.
very good to add little nice compression to
your sound, or a touch of sustain to your notes,
at extreme settings add a nice distorsion,
i think is good for professional studio use as well
for live gigs. it is a true bypass so do not change the sound
when not active. have very little noise, that increase a
little as you turn up the level pot, i think its
normal in use with some e-guitars. not so much noisy
if you use it with synthesizers. i raccomend to check
the battery charce when you get it, if you notice
some strange behaviour
in the sound, replace it with a new one.
all in all a good compressor/sustainer.
I would recommend this pedal as it does everything a compressor should do, its well built, you don't suffer noise issues and is designed to minimise signal reduction. Good value for money.
