The Boss NS-1X Noise Suppressor turns out to be a particularly versatile dynamics tool that provides extensive control over background noise in the signal. The combination of Noise gate, Noise suppressor and mute switch uses innovative multi-dimensional processing (MDP) technology that makes the removal of background noise particularly organic and effective. Furthermore, the NS-1x is characterized by a particularly intuitive operation that makes it possible to achieve the best possible results even with the least effort.
Multi-dimensional processing
As the most important element of ambient noise reduction, Boss relies on sophisticated MDP technology with the NS-1X Noise Suppressor. This analyzes the incoming signal and performs the signal reduction without artefacts in the decay phase of the sound. Here, the pedal also acts completely independent of the type of pickup used, so that even when using weaker signal sources such as e.g. single coils, the signal reduction can be reproduced naturally and organically.
Reduction, Gate and Mute
The Boss NS-1X Noise Suppressor can be used in three different modes: In the Reduction mode, occurring background noise in the signal can be precisely reduced and adjusted to suit a wide variety of demands and playing styles. The Gate mode, on the other hand, is ideal for rhythmically pulsating riffs of modern metal and ensures absolute silence during pauses in playing, and to give staccato-like riffs the necessary force. When the Mode knob is set to Mute, the NS-1X can be used as a mute switch, for example, to perform instrument changes silently or to silence the equipment during set breaks.
