With the Boss NS2 you can eliminate unwanted noise and hum without altering your tone. A unique noise detection circuit preserves the natural attack and envelope, leaving your playing and dynamics intact.
The NS-2 can be connected in two different ways. You can connect the NS-2 last in your chain of effects. The output of the previous pedal goes to the NS-2 input jack. Wire the Output jack of the NS-2 to your amp. The NS-2 can also be wired like an effects loop, which allows you to kill your entire signal chain just by stomping on the NS-2. Take the Send output of the NS-2 into your first pedal. Take the output of your last pedal and wire it to the Return jack of the NS-2.
The NS-2 uses an intelligent circuit to differentiate between the sound of the guitar and noise. The NF-1 simply cut all sound when it became weaker than a threshold value. The NS-2 attempts to let the sound of the guitar through while re-moving the noise.

Comparé à un EHX silencer, la coupure du bruit est progressive, en pente douce, là où le silencer coupe franchement le son. La Boss est très naturelle dans son fonctionnement. En contrepartie le EHX est plus puissant de 30% environ, dans la même situation il reste plus de course au potard sur l'EHX.
La LED aide le réglage : on active la pédale, on monte le bouton threshold jusqu'à ce que la LED s'allume. A noter qu'il y a une première phase de diminution des bruits avant la coupure, la LED scintille à ce moment là et devient bien brillante quand ça coupe franchement ce qui permet (affaire de goût) de garder le déclenchement du noisegate vraiment sous les doigts en gardant un brin de bruit de fond. Pour ceux qui préfèrent une coupure franche, montez jusqu'à avoir la LED bien allumée mais dans ce cas si vous allez juste un peu trop loin, le sustain peut être réduit, ce qui n'arrive pas si on reste juste à la limite entre le scintillement et la coupure franche. On arrive ainsi à réduire considérablement les bruits sans faire de concession sur le sustain. C'est à mon avis le bon réglage.
Mais quand-même le son quand la pédale est active est un peu plus fort que quand elle n'est pas active... J'ai ouvert la pédale et j'ai trouvé un petit trimpot réglé d'usine avec une goutte de glue. j'ai gratté doucement avec une tige de bambou pointée pour ne rien abîmer et pu actionner ce trimpot qui gère le "Unity-gain" (coup de bol pour moi!) et j'ai baissé un chouilla pour que le niveau sonore ON-OF-ON-OFF soit constant. BINGO!!
Attention si vous faites cette manip, soyez fin et délicat car il y a des composants SMD sur la face inférieure, une serviette de bain en guise de support fait le job.
Il y a certainement plus efficace, moins cher, mais ça reste de la bonne came à prix cohérent avec ce que c'est, les composants utilisés sont bons. La LED aide beaucoup à comprendre ce qui se passe et donc à bien régler.
