Authentic construction
To get as close as possible to the sound and feel of a 1966 Strat, the FenderCustom store naturally relies on historically authenticated woods and manufacturing methods in the design of the '66 Strat Deluxe Closet Classic. In addition to the alder body, which fits comfortably against the body thanks to the "Contour Body Shapings", the guitar features a bolt-on Quartersawn Maple neck, whose rosewood fingerboard is naturally glued as a "Round Laminated Board" onto the curve provided by the neck. The "1966 C" profile with 9.5" fretboard radius (241 mm), which is not too strong, also promises excellent playing characteristics up to the highest registers.

Hand-Wound '65 Single Coils with "Vintage Modified #2" Wiring
As pickup for the '66 Deluxe Closet Classic Strat the FenderCustom store chooses three hand-wound '65 single coils. Designed based on the legendary Gray Bottom pickups, the single coils elicit top-notch vintage tones ranging from Clean to overdrive from the guitar amp, responding with lively dynamics to the playing style and perfectly setting off any lick or solo with that signature Fender chime. The RWRP medium single coil, wound and polarized in reverse to the rest of the pickups, prevents unwanted ambient noise in the intermediate positions of the 5-way blade switch here. As part of the "Vintage Modified #2" wiring, the Custom store not only gives the electric guitar itsown tone pot for the bridge pickup and a common one for neck and middle pickup, but also a ToneSaver Treble bleed that preserves the treble when the volume knob is turned back.
On the large CBS headstock, vintage-style tuners keep the '66 Strat Deluxe Closet Classic securely in tune.
