The Gaul Krueger Plex Preamp for electric bass turns out to be a fully equipped sound tool for studio and stage, despite its extremely compact format. In addition to five vocings of the Californian company's most popular bass amps, the compact pedal not only accommodates a 4-band tone control, but also a compressor and overdrive. Additional filters and functions can be called up via buttons integrated in the rotary controls, whereby the large LED display provides detailed information. The Gallien Krueger Plex also features a balanced DI output in XLR format and a USB audio interface, making it much easier to use on stage and during recording, while the integrated tuner puts the bass in the right mood in no time at all.
Like all the Californian manufacturer's amps, the Gallien Krueger convinces with its modern sound, which ensures a clean and taut bass reproduction. A total of five voicings are available to reproduce the sound of the most popular Gaul Krueger bass amps. In addition, the active 4-band tone control with "Variable Q" technology, which raises the ranges around each center frequency to a different degree, allows a particularly precise adjustment of the sound image. Pressing the equalizer controls also allows different sound filters to be called up in several stages:
The built-in drive and compression effects of the Gaul Krueger Plex Preamp offer additional tonal variability. By pressing the drive level control five different gain levels can be called up, so that the Gaul Plex delivers every sound from a warm overdrive to a brute metal steamroller. The compressor convinces with its harmonious sound and can be adjusted via knobs for level and threshold. Five different attack/release behaviour and five ratio levels can also be called up by pressing the controller. A serial effect path is also available for additional effects.
With its extensive connections, the Gaul Krueger Plex Preamp is also ideally equipped for use on stage and in the studio. In addition to the regular jack output for connection to bass amplifiers, the bass preamplifier provides a balanced direct out in XLR format, which can be used to pick up the signal directly during live applications and in the studio. The tap point can be placed in front of or behind tone control and effects using the pre/post switch. For easy recording on the computer, the Plex Preamp also features a USB audio interface that can be used to record directly into a DAW. A headphone connection and an aux input for connecting mp3 players and other playback devices complete the equipment.
