Guitar design from the pen of Ted McCarty.
The Gibson Theodore Natural takes up a design by Ted McCarty, which the legendary president of the traditional company put down on paper during a meeting on March 18, 1957. The guitar makers of the Gibson Custom Shop artfully and as authentically as possible, the strictly limited electric guitar comes with the Ted McCarty specified two-piece alder body with florentine Cutaways and a beefy "Chunky C" mahogany neck with Scimitar headstock. While powerful GibsonCustom Soapbar P-90 pickups provide authentic vintage sounds between Blues and rock, historically accurate Hardware completes Gibson's Theodore Guitar. Last but not least, a GibsonHistoric hardshell Case and the certificate in the DeluxeBooklet make the Gibson Theodore Natural an absolute collector's item for all Gibson fans.
The strictly limited Gibson Theodore Natural is based on a design by Ted McCarty, which the Gibson Custom Shop transforms for the first time into a premium electric guitar with unmistakable vintage character.
The Florentine cutaways of the alder body allow unobstructed access to the high registers of the mahogany neck.
First-class feel
To realize the surprisingly comfortable design of the Theodore, created by Ted McCarty, the Gibson Custom Shop relies on high-quality tonewoods and traditional manufacturing methods. Following the specifications of March 1957, the electric guitar features a two-piece alder body with a walnut centerpiece whose highly rounded sides promise comfortable handling. The distinctive Florentine cutaways also allow unobstructed access to the high registers of the glued mahogany neck in the pleasingly bold "Chunky 1957 C" profile.
Gibson Custom Soapbar P-90 single-coils and hand-wired circuitry with Bumblebee caps deliver vibrant vintage tones for blues and rock.
Authentic vintage sounds
As pickup for the Theodore guitar chooses the Gibson Custom Shoptwo Custom Soapbar P-90s. Built to traditional specifications, the powerful single coil pickups elicit punchy clean and creamy overdrive tones from the guitar amp that respond with sensitive dynamics to the playing style. To customize the sound, Gibson also equips the Theodore with a hand-wired 3-way circuit, with historically correct Bumblebee capacitors allowing for especially harmonic Treble roll-offs.
On the headstock of the Gibson Theodore, Kluson Six in-line vintage-style tuners ensure precise and stable tuning.
Authentic hardware equipment
Last but not least, the authentic hardware provided by Ted McCarty Hardware completes the Gibson Theodore Natural. The bridge is the classic wraparound bridge, which contributes significantly to the characteristic sound of the guitar. On the eye-catching "Scimitar" headstock, Kluson Six in-line tuners with cream-colored knobs also guarantee a robust and precise tuning of the Theodore electric guitar by Gibson.
