Classic surfcaster meets modern features
The surfcaster bodymade of okumé gives the LM-87 easy handling for the most comfortable playability possible. The open-pored black finish brings out the natural grain of the wood, while the three-ply pickguard, chrome-plated Hardware and the subtle Binding on the body and neck provide a sophisticated retro touch. The three-piece neck made from okumé is fitted with an ammaranthfingerboard which, with 22 frets and a 12" - 16" compound radius, provides optimum conditions for playing the guitar as comfortably as possible: While chords close to the saddle are ergonomic and easy to grip, riffs and leads in high registers are precise thanks to the flattened radius. The .010 - .046 factory strings run over a robust JacksonTOM-style bridge with fixed tailpiece, which in combination with the mini tuners guarantees absolutely robust tuning - even when used heavily in drop tunings.
With an LM-87 bridge humbucker and the LM-87 P90 pickup, you can achieve great cleans and brute high-gain sounds!
Jackson LM-87 Lee Malia signature pickups with coil split option
The characteristic Lee Malia sound is provided by an in-house signature set of Jackson LM-87 signature pickups. The LM-87 bridge humbucker delivers powerful pressure, high dynamics and a rich response - perfect for modern high-gain riffs and mid-heavy punches. The humbucker can be split using the push/pull function on the volume pot, making crystal-clear cleans and classic single-coil sounds possible. The LM-87 P90 pickup in the neck position rounds off the sound with a warm, sustaining sound, which can also be used wonderfully Clean or with a little crunch. In classic P90 style, the loosely wound pickup delivers a broad, transparent sound with a defined response!
