The Kawai ES120 W Stage Piano at a glance
The ES120 W from Kawai is a pleasantly playable stage piano in high-quality white optics. The instrument has a weighted 88-key "Responsive Hammer Compact" keyboard with hammer action along with optimized noise damping, which is velocity sensitive and provides an excellent playing feel. The digital sound generation provides a total of 25 different sounds, the piano samples are based on the impressive Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. Thanks to the 192 voices, the ES120 W is fully polyphonic playable. The 2x 10 Watt stereo speaker system provides the most realistic sound experience possible, which also benefits the reverb effects. A single-track recording function stores a total of three songs with a capacity of up to 15,000 notes in the device. This is useful to check yourself, but also to replace a third and fourth hand on the instrument. The ES120 W is expandable with the piano stand HML-2 and the triple pedal unit F-351.
Bluetooth and other connection options
Since the Stage Piano also communicates via Bluetooth, a two-way exchange of audio signals is no problem. Thus, it can wirelessly transfer the audio signal to the home theatre system or play from the computer with appropriate music software. Conversely, a connection with the smartphone or tablet is also provided, so the ES120 W acts as a speaker for mobile devices and benefits from advanced features thanks to the apps PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer. The included music holder is simply plugged in and can be removed again at will. The connections don't raise any questions. With the headphone output, it is possible to play and practice undisturbed at any time of day. The MIDI connection is made via USB. Two pedal inputs for the optionally available pedal unit and the included damper pedal round out the control options. Stereo outputs connect the instrument to a mixing console, an audio interface or the home stereo system.
More functions via app
The ES120 W supports the Kawai apps PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer. Via PianoRemote app you can easily handle almost all functions and sound switching. Via PiaBookPlayer you have full access to over 500 practice pieces. Both apps are available for iOS as well as Android.
