In the body of the Martin D-16 RGTE, Martin follows the company tradition and produces back and sides made of solid rosewood, while the top is also made of solid Sitka spruce. Accordingly, the acoustic guitar convinces with the typical Dreadnought sound, whose deep bass foundation and glittering treble spectrum especially flat pickers conjure up a smile in the face. Even complex chords are presented perfectly with casual response, whereby the X-Bracing and the wafer-thin varnish guarantee a free sound development, which realizes every detail of the game. The Fishman Sonitone also ensures flawless, enhanced stage performance.

Another tribute to modernity is the use of sustainably obtained materials for certain components of the Martin D-16RGTE. The neck, whose "Modified Low Oval" profile nestles comfortably in the hand when playing Western guitar, is made of carefully selected hardwoods. The bridge and fretboard are made of FSC-certified Richlite, which ensures a sustainable use of valuable resources and its homogeneous structure positively influences the sound of the guitar. In addition, Martin does not use animal bones in the D-16RGT and makes the compensated bridge insert from White Tusq, while the saddle is made from White Corian. In their structure, these Graph Tech products resemble bones so that the typical sound is retained.
