RCF's new SUB 8008-AS is a high-performance active subwoofer with two 18" speakers for live bands, DJs, clubs and rental companies. Its advanced transducers consist of a powerful ceramic magnet and a 4-inch voice coil. The power amplifier handles extreme currents up to 4400 W and enables sound pressure levels up to 137 dB with outstanding headroom. The ultra-fast attack with precise power transfer offers high efficiency with very low heat dissipation for noise-free, fanless cooling. Specifically designed for demanding live sound applications with clean, powerful bass response.
The rear panel provides controls for 12 presets, crossover frequency, polarity switching, deep/punch selection, cardioid dispersion and output delay. The tour-ready, rugged wooden cabinet with scratch-resistant polyurea lacquer is easy to carry and mount securely. With its rugged construction, excellent sound quality and high output power, the SUB 8008-AS is ideal for mid-sized or larger venues and touring applications.
RCF's lightweight drivers offer impressive performance. To ensure maximum reliability and optimum interaction of all components, all transducers have been specially designed by RCF engineers in Italy. The novel design makes the 1.75-inch voice coil with polyimide capton dome ten times more stable than its predecessors, ensuring more accurate output and improved longevity.
The revised phase plug ensures a more transparent sound and less distortion. The special woofer design ensures that the system runs more stable under high load, less distortion and does not overheat as quickly.
With 4400 watts of peak power, the 2-channel Class D power amplifier achieves impressive sound pressure levels with ultra-fast attack and natural transient response with very low heat loss. The power amplifier is so energy efficient that it does not require a ventilation fan. Instead, it is mounted in the rear of the cabinet on a fixed heat exchanger with no moving parts. The stereo signal input path with crossover has been optimized for low distortion and, for added safety, features an advanced limiter that preserves the sound characteristics of the input signal at all levels.
The RCF power amplifiers are standardized for maximum safety (EN62368-1) and are powered by a highly efficient yet ultra-lightweight switching power supply.
The RCF SUB 8008-AS is suitable for a wide range of live sound applications. The durable multiplex enclosure is easy to transport, stackable, and easy to set up and take down thanks to its light weight, which is supported by the ergonomically shaped, rubberized handles on the side panels. Thanks to the M20 threaded flanges for spacer rods on the top and side, the subwoofer can be set up vertically or horizontally. The durable polyurea paint, powder-coated front grille and rugged enclosure withstand the rigors of frequent use and transport.
The separate power amp enclosure ensures efficient and reliable operation. Acoustic foam lamination on the inside of the front grille provides an additional barrier against dust and moisture. Since the subwoofer has bass reflex ports on the front, it can also be positioned in niches or recesses.
