The UDO Audio Super 6 White at a glance
From UDO Audio comes the Super 6, a 12-voice polyphonic digital-analog hybrid synthesizer with binaural voice architecture. The sturdy and high-quality manufactured instrument is equipped with a velocity-sensitive 49-key keyboard with aftertouch from Fatar and stands for easy usability and high playing pleasure not only because of the numerous controls.
Sound architecture
The UDO Audio Super 6 White features two high-resolution digital oscillators that deliver sine, triangle, sawtooth, square and noise. In addition, oscillator 1 has 16 user wavetables and oscillator 2 has been given pulse width modulation. Furthermore, the oscillator section offers pitch modulation, sync, Crossmodulation (FM), a sub-oscillator and an X-fade mode for mixing the tone generators. An analog 24 dB Lowpass filter with downstream rigid Highpass filter and a switchable two-stage drive serves for processing the rich sound spectrum. The VCA is also analog, which can be modulated by an LFO in addition to the envelope (tremolo effect).
Modulations & Effects
Two different LFOs, two ADSR envelopes, the assignments for the pitch bender, as well as the comprehensive modulation matrix with several entries that can be stored in patch provide plenty of movement in the sound. The UDO Audio Super 6 is also ideal for processing audio signals, as it has an audio channel with trigger function for driving the envelopes. The signal chain is rounded off with the two high-quality 24-bit stereo effectsDelay and Chorus.
Playing aids
Besides the good keyboard, optional note input is provided by the Arpeggiator respectively sequencer, which are extensively equipped and can of course be synchronized to the MIDI-Clock. In Voice Mode, the voices are assigned across the board; mono, legato, unisono and two poly modes cover everything. If required, the binaural voice distribution can be switched on for a very dynamic and lively voice distribution in the panorama. For storing and recalling self-created sounds, the Super 6 has two banks of eight memory locations each. Those who prefer to work with the controls simply press the Manual button, from then on the sound heard matches the current settings and it behaves like a classic analog.
The next Jupiter
If you think you've recognized a "new Roland Jupiter-6" in this sea of faders, you can be sure: visually and functionally, "UDO" is based on it, but sonically it's in a completely different league. The Super 6 sounds modern analog and noble digital at the same time; but also a bit British in the best sense.
