The Ahead Spinal Glide Drum throne SPG-R-4 is an ergonomic drum throne with a two-piece red velour seat for drummers who don't want to do without a stable and comfortable seat even during long and intense sessions. The two separate cushions made of thick memory foam ensure that the coccyx has no direct contact with the seat surface and thus relieves the lower back, while lateral loads during play are absorbed by the independently padded cushions. The SPG-R-4 owes its stability to its 4-legged and double-braced base. The seat is located on a stable mounting plate and can be fixed to the desired height between 46cm and 61cm by means of the double lock.
The Spinal Glide series addresses a problem that is widespread but rarely addressed: Seat comfort and back pain when playing drums. Due to the independent seat cushions, pelvic movements in all directions are made possible, which strain the spine less than conventional thrones due to the missing contact to the coccyx. At the same time, the danger of slipping off is also reduced when playing on toms or cymbals standing a little apart. The free space between the two cushions also benefits the ventilation, which is especially noticeable during strenuous sessions.
But not only the drummer is offered a pleasant place with the outstanding cushion, the throne itself also has to stand securely on its own legs. The Spinal Glide SPG-R-4 fully meets these requirements. Four double-braced legs provide the necessary stability for the substructure, while the rubberized feet secure the throne against wild slipping. Height adjustable by spindle, which can be double locked from both sides to guarantee optimum hold. Once set, the height is maintained for a long time.
Very much high quality materials used for this throne feels very sturdy.
After spending many hours reviewing thrones, as my son required a new one, and thinking about not buying a cheap one again as this is what he wants for a career. We decided to buy him this one for his birthday and I have to say he loves it much more comfortable than some of the previous ones he has tried.
I would say for the price, compared with some other drum thrones and based on the purpose of the design, the price is very reasonable.
