With the RD-6 BB, Behringer presents its reinterpretation of the famous Roland TR-606 (1982-1984) and thereby at the same time the "little sister" of the RD-8. It used to be the TR-606 that was supposed to provide the rhythmic accompaniment to the TB-303 bassline in the same housing, and Behringer has elegantly repackaged this with the RD-6 BB. The puristic, analogue sound is as suitable then as it is today, especially for electro tracks and, of course, everything that needs a punch or simply needs to complement another drum machine. Eight instruments and accents are programmable. Bass drum and snare have their own volume controls, toms, hi-hats and cymbal/clap are each set in pairs.
Sequencer
The iconic sequencer gives access to 32 patterns, each of which can be up to 16 steps long, and of course song mode. Also integrated into the Behringer RD-6 BB are the four scales, each of which allows for a different rhythm. Thanks to the Randomize function, you can throw together new patterns in the RD-6 BB at the touch of a button, which are a constant source of inspiration and variation. Eliminating the need to remove and replace the battery on the TR-606 to achieve the same effect.
Distortion!
Since the sounds are only adjustable in volume, Behringer RD-6 BB has added an extensively adjustable distortion effect, which will especially delight friends of somewhat harder sounds. From a purely sonic point of view, this is an immense upgrade that may make an external distortion unit obsolete for some.
Connections
In addition to the original 80s model, the RD-6 BB has six individual outputs for the instruments, two analogue trigger outputs, sync in and out and a connection for a footswitch to start and stop the drum machine.
Just a fantastic route to old school beat making. Classic sounds for a fraction of the price. More effort to program than software, but who cares. Keeps your brain ticking. My brain is old. I need something to keep it ticking. This, and the rest of the range is the answer. Buy one. Buy them all!
