The 18th version of Black Magic Design's comprehensive video editing softwareDaVinci Resolve Studio once again provides you with various innovations and improvements to meet the modern and professional demands of the video industry - and that in every area! Whether Edit, Color, Fusion, Fairlight or the Blackmagic Cloud: DaVinci Resolve Studio has a variety of surprises in store for you that simplify everyday studio work and speed up certain processes. Whether it's compatibility with software or hardware devices, practical features such as the dialog leveler or automatic binaural rendering - there's something here for every user to help them get on with their work.
The following sections highlight some of the new features of DaVinci Resolve
Intuitive object masking detects and tracks motion of thousands of objects. For advanced secondary grading and effects, the Neural Engine intuitively crops animals, vehicles, people, food, and countless other elements.
The new Depth Map effect lets you create a 3D depth map of a scene in an instant, and independently color grade the foreground and background on the fly. Let the viewer focus on what's important to you: or action in the foreground, interview subjects, or that special atmosphere in the background that deserves more attention.
Also interesting is the tracking of moving distorted surfaces with eg. Add graphics or intricate tattoos, or cover entire logos, despite wrinkled backgrounds like t-shirts.
Don't forget the updated Beauty Resolve FX, which gives you even more targeted control for skin beautification corrections. Want to smooth skin or restore details? No problem - and with natural results.
Creating content for social media like TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, or YouTube? With the help of matching and predefined image formats, you can do this in a snap and set up the timeline to create vertical or square videos faster.
Also new is the Timeline Lock feature in Bins, which makes it easier to work simultaneously with other editors. The timeline is automatically unlocked for the first user without locking the entire timeline bin. Working simultaneously on the same project has never been easier!
Another Highlith is the AI-based voice isolation, which deletes loud noise from voice recordings. Separating dialogue from sounds like eg. Aircraft and explosion noise opens up more possibilities when editing intervies and dialog recordings in noisy locations
At the same time, you can use the built-in Dialog Leveler to adjust the volume of dialog recordings without the need for tedious manual automation curves and clip gains. Comprehensive controls such as waveform real-time display, focus presets, and three editing options are available.
DaVinci Resolve 18 now supports the Blackmagic Cloud to host project libraries on the server. This is especially useful for editors, colorists, VFX artists and sound engineers who want to collaborate on projects.
With the new Proxy Generator app, camera recordings can be created and managed automatically. As watched folders are created, new footage is automatically converted to H.264, H.265 or ProRes proxies for accelerated editing workflows.
The workflow is kept very simple, so switching between original footage and proxies is accomplished with a single click. This makes it easy to edit with proxies and later link them back to the camera originals for grading.
The intelligent program now also simplifies material management, leaving more time for creative work. Manually relinking or searching for assets is a thing of the past!
GPU accelerated painting can generate and display brush strokes in real time, enabling a more intuitive approach to cover-up or graphic design. Instant visual
In terms of speed and rendering performance of templates for text, text+ and shapes, you can expect a significant
Keyframe adjustment with track-based automation curves works similarly to the Clip Gain curve: Keyframes are added by Option-clicking or drawn with the Pen tool and graphically edited, trimmed, or moved with standard tools. A tooltip fades in changed keyframe values, while the vector automatic allows smoothest level changes.
Also new in Fairlight is the expansion of the toolset for Dolby Atmos deliverables. This now supports rendering stereophonic output from a complex Dolby Atmos mix. A 7.1.4 Dolby
The Space View Scope also displays a real-time view of each object in relation to the room and other objects in the 3D space. DaVinci Resolve offers native support for the latest industry-standard audio formats including Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, MPEG-H, NHK 22.2 and SMPTE.
Other new features in Fairlight include: Nested timeline decomposition, vector keyframing for automation curves, and conversion from previous projects to FlexBus.
Get more speed with the DaVinci Neural Engine with advanced machine learning algorithms now supported on Apple M1 and M1 Pro models. This gives you up to 300% improved speed for dozens of tools essential for accurate analysis of motion and content.
At the same time, Dolby Vision has been enhanced to allow viewing of HDR material on Aple screens with High Dynamic Range options. This also applies to XDR screens and even the latest laptops, so you can evaluate, color correct and deliver HDR footage from anywhere.
DaVinci Resolve is the only software that supports editing and grading with debayered 8K digital negatives. This enables more accurate results in compositing and grading by working directly with RAW footage without having to work with limited resolutions, compression artifacts, and banding.
Produce more authentic results than ever before with improved edge strength and filter control in the Edge Detect effect. Get cleaner edges, smoother rolloff, unparalleled sharpening, and halo effects.
