I had been watching youtube videos on pickups for a while, and was slightly concerned over soldiering, so thought I would try these EMG soldierless pickups, and so glad I did, they are so much crisper and less muddy than the standard pickups in the Ibanez Gio model and would highly recommend.
I had to pickup a EMG telecaster switch separately but its just all plug and play 8-)
Delivery was tracked and swift, and all packed well
The EMG James Hetfield Signature Pickups, has that throw back look, but taken to the extreme. Hetfield wanted a "stealth" look for his pickups. What we got was a black nickle cap with the exposed posts. These things definitely looked like they are up for the job, but were they?
First of all these pickups are very easy to install. EMG's soder-less system makes it pretty painless. It's basically plug and play. The overall tone on these are amazing. They were everything I wanted, heavy and crunchy but still clear enough to let me stand out. I use the bridge pickup for all of my distorted parts. I spend a lot of time chugging away on the low strings and with this pickup I don't ever feel like my sound gets muddy. Every note, no matter how fast I play, rings out true and power chords sound amazing. I use the neck pickup for my clean parts. I has a nice bassy tone that makes each note feel more rounded. My clean parts use to get drowned out by the rest of the band, but not with this pickup. After using these for awhile I've had a hard time using anything else. Nothing else sounds quite as good. I am very impressed with these pickups and have since i.
I highly recommend these pickups for any guitar player, but especially those that play Metal. A great product from a great mind and a great company.
