The Gibson '80s Flying V Ebony at a glance
The Gibson '80s Flying V Ebony pays tribute to the classic V models that were instrumental in the rise of early Eighties thrash metal. So it's no surprise that two hot-wound '80s tribute humbuckers in neck and bridge positions, a slim SlimTaper neck profile for lightning-fast shredding, and a resonant TOM/stopbar combination are not to be missed on this V. In addition, the Gibson '80s Flying V Ebony features hand-wired electrics and comes with matching Gibson hardshell case.
Classic V-shaped mahogany construction
The body of the Gibson '80s Flying V Ebony follows its namesake V-shape and is made entirely of mahogany, giving the basic sound of the instrument its distinctive classic midrange character. A slim neck heel connects the neck, also made of mahogany, to the body, which has a nimble SlimTaper profile for unhindered acrobatics on the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. All dimensions in the form of the typical Gibson scale length of 628 mm and the 43 mm wide saddle here also remain true to the original.
Gibson '80s Tribute Humbuckers
To skillfully revive the sound of the eighties, Gibson USA wraps two Gibson '80s Tribute humbuckers, two particularly hot sound converters that stand for appropriate sounds of rock and metal in neck and bridge positions. So the Gibson '80s Flying V Ebony offers vocal sounds in neck position, while the bridge humbucker convinces with crystal clear sound and razor-sharp Attack. Both pickup have separate volume controls and share a common tone control, which is equipped with real orange drop capacitors.
Aluminum Tune-o-Matic and Grover Rotomatics
The proven combination of an aluminum tune-o-matic and a matching stopbar ensures a particularly fat resonance transfer into the body of the Gibson '80s Flying V Ebony. This gives the sound a particularly direct response that is ideal for rhythmically pulsating thrash metal licks. The six Grover Rotomatics also follow the classic setup and provide precise tunings and the distinctive silhouette of the Flying V headstock.
