The Mutant Hihats from Hexinverter bring the sound of the legendary TR-808 Hihats to the Eurorack with a few extras. In collaboration with Erica Synths, a revised, optimized circuit has been created that is in no way inferior to the sound of the first Mutant generation. The LoFi transistor VCAs from the historic original were replaced with modern, low-noise OTA VCAs in one go. The module can generate open and closed Hihats simultaneously. The Exclusive switch plays an important role here, as it determines the interaction behavior of the two sounds when triggered simultaneously. The internal noise generator can be triggered by any external signal such as eg. Metal Noise or a chord oscillator. The switchable Bandpass filter also plays a decisive role in the overall sound. As soon as this is active, the actual 808 character reaches completely different areas. The distortion intensity can be adjusted separately for each channel and ranges from soft, metallic HiHats to extremely overdriven, crunchy hi-hats. As with the original, only the decay of the Open hihat can be adjusted; there is a control voltage input with attenuator for this parameter. In addition to the two trigger inputs, a Accent input, which affects both sounds simultaneously, provides dynamic accents in the tried and tested TR manner.
