J & D JM20 RW IV Ivory

The guitar looks quite a bit like a Fender Jaguar, but doesn’t at all sound like one. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it sounds more like a cheap Stratocaster, albeit with a different pickup arrangement. The quality of the body and neck is really high, especially for the price, and the finish is really excellent. The bridge is not great, I still have a little fret buzz after setting it up. However, the biggest drawback are the pickups, as a set they’re not great really: the guitar would be transformed if these were better. Also, the tone and volume knobs are a bit cheap, but then again, the guitar is really inexpensive. The tremolo arm and mechanism is good, although mine didn’t come with the small white end piece as seen in the images on this site. Overall, considering the price, this is a great versatile starter guitar that gives that strat sound.

I bought this guitar some time ago, just for fun. But really, I am still amazed about its quality at less than € 100! I dont feel uncomfortable plugging it in whilst others play their expensive guitars. This axe doesnt let you down.
Theres some unbalance, however, between the bridge and the other pick ups. But I can live with that. Its the only drawback, really. One could decide to put in other pus, but then again, why not buy another guitar for that matter.
This is a lot of guitar for your euros!

Frets are not good, needs polishing - must be done. Fretwork ok, fretends on my guitar was good. Tremolo too stiff out of the box. Best to use two springs and tighten the claw. Finish is very good. No issues with pickguard. Nut is a little high in the string-slots. Tuners better than I thought. Pickups average. Neck, body and pickguard is good as a base for a much better guitar with upgrades, but those frets needs a polishing. This guitar is rare as it is a Jazzmaster with strat tremolo. Upgrade the tremolo and pickups and some 'love' to the guitar, and the guitar is closer to 'pro' than you think. A better nut and tuners could be a future upgrade, as the neck and body is rather nice (with some love from a repairman or a home-tinkerer).

Had my eye on this baby for a while, finally decided to give her a chance. And that wasnt a dissapointment! Almost perfectly tuned it came out of the box in Amsterdam just a day after ordering it from Germany! Nicely finished, fitted with quality dadarrio strings, and well calibrated adjusted bridge. Just plug, tune and play! It took it on an gig two days later instead of my custom built telecaster. It did great. Sound is real nice with a wide harmonic range of fendery sounds through the 5 way switch. Feel is solid and well balanced. neck plays comfortably and is perfectly adjusted.
It could do with a little les humm maybe. That is a part i still feel needs some work. Ill fit some extra shielding when i replace the strings and probably will change the potmeters and condenser for more expensive ones at that occasion as well.

Comfortable all around. Looks amazing and sounds okay. Worth the price.
