The Nektar Panorama P4 USB Controller Keyboard is a professional device featuring deep integration with Bitwig Studio, Cubase, Logic Pro, MainStage, Reaper and Reason to help the user connect with their performance and creativity. The keyboard and pads are dynamic, sensitive and balanced to allow for complete expression.
The keyboard action uses weights to offset the otherwise increasing tension you would experience from the spring, meaning the down movement is as clean as possible and not heavy or fatiguing to play. Monophonic aftertouch, pitch bend and modulation wheels, plus foot switch and expression pedal jacks set you up for your performance.
A crystal clear 3.5" colour TFT display delivers all of the information you need, for each mode or menu. Regardless of the assignment, this display provides detailed information that makes your workflow fluent and fast.
A multitude of assignable controls make the Panorama keyboards comprehensive and fully featured with 16 encoders, nine 45mm faders, one 100mm motorised ALPS fader, 10 LED buttons, 28 buttons, 12 pads each with strike and pressure component, footswitch jack, expression pedal jack, keyboard aftertouch, pitchbend and modulation wheels. With all of these features you have control of up to 93 parameters at any one time. You can store settings in 20 presets with individually save and loadable keyboard, pad and F-keys maps.
The motorised 100mm touch-sensitive ALPS fader gives you pro-console mixer channel control when operated with Bitwig, Cubase, Logic, Nuendo, Reaper or Reason. Two LED buttons controls Solo and Mute so no matter what mode you operating Panorama in, you always have pro-console control within reach. Three modes allows you one button press to switch between controlling the Mixer, Instruments and Transport, with the 4th mode, Internal, still providing access to traditional MIDI control.
The Panorama keyboards offer a huge range of connectivity options including a micro USB-B for external power supplies or additional power for the motorised fader (cable included). There is also a USB port for power and data connection to your computer and a five-pin MIDI DIN output port for sending data either directly from the unit or from your DAW (working like a MIDI interface).
Does what it is suppose to do, makes Reason so much easier. Built like a tank. Buttons and sliders seem solid as does the fader, good build quality and lite enough to carry around. All the cables came with it so you dont have to buy any USB cables.
Every control button on this device is placed perfectly, especially the bending wheels and the LCD screen. Large but has a cool look with a fine quality and design. Truly speeds up your workflow with the Cubase which I spent time a bit. Personally I use this controller with Ableton Live. If you dont want to spend some time with customization you may consider looking for another controller with a deeper integration for the Live. Or you can just reconsider switching to another DAW to get the full out of this machine : )
I was looking to replace my old midi controller. Nektar has met all my expectations. It's solid, well made and the keys don't feel "plasticky" like on other keyboards in this range.
The feature I love the most about this product is full integration with Logic Pro X. As an electronic music producer, I can thoroughly recommend Nektar P4 to anyone who wants to upgrade their studio.
