The Reloop Hi-Fi Turn5 is a quartz-controlled, directly driven turntable with an elegant black piano lacquer finish. Its brushless, direct-drive DC motor offers a powerful drive with a starting torque of 4.5 kg/cm. The gold-plated turntable of the Turn5 ensures an optimally balanced barrel. Unwanted resonance is eliminated thanks to a damping rubber coating beneath the platter. A statically balanced S-shaped arm ensures exemplary scanning of the pickup and excellent reproduction of the sound carrier.
An Ortofon 2M Red pickup with elliptical cut and outstanding sound quality is pre-mounted on a unit, whilst a recessed connection panel with a gold-plated RCA connector (including a separate ground terminal) is located at the rear of the turntable. The mains and rca cable can be removed in the event that replacement is needed. The housing of the Turn5 is of a heavy metal, rubber and plastic construction with shock-absorbing feet to isolate vibrations as far as possible and reduce ambient noise.
In my experience with many turntables, budget to esoteric high-end monsters, direct drive easily outperforms belt drive and Reloop’s Turn 5 is the best direct drive deck I’ve had the privilege of experiencing. Everything about it exudes quality and finish, and at the DV247 price you are getting a Rolls-Royce for the price of a Japanese SUV! Don’t waste you money on the ‘legendary’ brands, get a Turn 5 and splash the cash on an audiophile cartridge-headshell combination and phono stage.
