Roland SYSTEM-1m is a semi-modular synthesizer with plug-out functionality and a flexible design for use as a desktop instrument, Eurorack module or 19-inch rack module. In addition to its original synthesizer functions, the SYSTEM-1m has inputs for external devices as well as CV/Gate connectors for re-patching and connection to external modular synthesizers. The combination of CV/Gate functionality and the ability to load classic Roland synthesizers such as the SH-101 and PROMARS into internal memory as a plug module make the SYSTEM-1m an unparalleled sound powerhouse.
Roland SYSTEM-1m: a modular system for everyone.
Modular synthesizers are usually very high-priced because they offer options for very specialized sounds. Roland's SYSTEM-1m offers the sound of a modular synthesizer for a comparatively low price. The module can either be rack mounted or placed on a table. It's powered by a standard AC connection, and it can be played from any MIDI keyboard or controlled via DAW software using MIDI messages. Just as you'd expect. But the SYSTEM-1m goes further than traditional synthesizer modules. It has illuminated, color-coded patch connectors that invite you to experiment with the sound architecture and connect other external synthesizer modules. The SYSTEM-1m can not only be set up as a desktop unit or mounted in a 19" rack, but can also be installed in a standard Eurorack case and powered via the Eurorack system using an included adapter cable. Its versatile sound architecture is a very good addition to any modular synthesizers you may already have - or it is the starting point for your new modular synthesizer setup.

Roland SYSTEM-1m offers a wide range of classic synth sounds
Roland's SYSTEM-1m incorporates the sound power of 40 years of synthesizer building experience. It offers an amazing variability of sounds, from glorious sounding arpeggios to powerful basses and more. But fans of cult instruments will also get their money's worth. These can be loaded into the SYSTEM-1m using PLUG-OUT technology and can be called up and played directly. The plug-out synthesizers use the analogue Circuit behavior technology, which allows perfect replicas of classic synthesizers. The Plug Out modules work according to the concept of the well-known VST- respectively AU-compatible plug-ins of a DAW software and can be edited directly via the controls of the SYSTEM-1m. All you have to do is load the desired plug-out module into the SYSTEM-1m's memory and you can then switch between the SYSTEM-1m's internal sound generation and the plug-out module. The number of PLUG-OUTs from classic Roland synthesizers is constantly growing, starting with the SH-101, SH-2 and PROMARS - and you don't need a computer to play these modules.
The world of synthesizer technology in one instrument.
The SYSTEM-1m not only has a very powerful sound generation itself, but also allows extensive sound experiments in combination with other modular systems. The extensive oscillator section, the warm sounding filters and the fast envelopes are an ideal starting point for a small or large modular setup. But the SYSTEM-1m goes several steps further: the combination of CV/Gate functionality, PLUG-OUT technology and DAW integration allow you to explore previously unattainable worlds of sound. For example: load the SH-101 plug-out into SYSTEM-1m and you have an SH-101 synthesizer as Hardware with modular capacity - there's never been anything like it before! You can then route the sound of external sound sources through the filters of the SH-101 and use the incomparable sound of these filters for other devices. Or you can load the SH-2 plug-out and use its unique oscillator section to drive various Eurorack filters and envelopes. The possibilities are endless!
