The Stagg EDB-3/4 Transparent Red is ideal for sessions, concerts and rehearsals where an acoustic double bass is impractical. Electric Upright Bass, electric double bass, 3/4 size
Overall it is a very good product with a good quality. It is not the highest end product, but for personal use or small scale use it is very good product. It sounds good but you can identify that it is amplified, so it is not a replacement for a classical upright bass in my opinion. One tip is when you receive it, tune it up very very carefully as i had a string break when tuning (it happens) but that is why is scored lower on Price/performance
I can not fault Musicstore's service. My Stagg EDB was delivered before the promised date and was so very well packed. I have bought from them once before and was so impressed, that I bought this bass from Musicstore again.
As well as the great, friendly service I received, I thought the bass to be a fantastic starter instrument. I really wanted a three quarter size acoustic double bass, but they are so large and cumbersome that I knew I would have problems getting it in and out of my house and car. This little baby is the perfect alternative.
It plays extremely well, sounds like an authentic double bass and is extremely mobile in its superb well protected case. I would feel that this bass would have no problems with gigging. I am a part time musician in a rock and blues band and once I get to play it well, it will go with me on gigs to alternate with my electric bass on certain numbers.
I must admit that it is different from a bass guitar and will take a while to get used to, but it is going to be well worth it. By practicing just for half an hour every day, I would think in six months any musician will have it mastered.
The only problem I have with it, and is the reason I only gave 4 stars for workmanship is the body rest supplied with it. It is difficult to fit and tighten up and I am sure Stagg could design something a little better, more like the shape of the top of a double bass. This is only a petty thing and not something that would stop me buying it.
As I said before, the sounds it makes, with a little fiddling with the controls, can make it sound like a proper acoustic bass without the hassle of size. Being electric and through even the smallest of bass amps, you can be heard above the noisiest of drummers.
I love it to bits and can't leave it alone. More important is that I found Musicstore are selling it cheaper than most of the other companies.
I really love it! it is a quite nice instrument, however, its sound doesnt resemble at all to an acoustic upright, but, you can dial in really good tones with it.
I had some issues attaching the wireframes, this is why rated the workmanship with only 4.
Comes with great features, considering its price. I just recommend this one if you want to start learning the upright bass, or if you are at advanced level...
Overall rating, would be a 4 stars.
Keep Low!
This is my first experience of the EUB world after 35 years playing bass guitar.
1st impressions are great value for money. I have lowered the action without any problems.
Great features, great sound and great look.
Highly recommended.
