A looper is a device commonly used by guitarists, but also by musicians in general, to repeat a specific melody or phrase played on their guitar, through vocals, or on other instruments. You play the desired section once, record it with the looper, and it then plays it back in an infinite loop. This allows musicians to layer different melodies or rhythms—known as layers or overdubs—on top of each other, effectively enabling a solo musician to perform an entire song. A guitar looper is an extremely useful practice tool as it facilitates jam sessions without needing another musician.
