Alder slab body & maple cap neck
The classic-sized slab body of the Fender '65 Telecaster Custom Heavy Relic Faded 3-Color Sunburst is made of alder to match the historical specifications and features a bolt-on maple cap neck. The authentic neck construction of the mid-sixties requires the truss rod to be inserted from the front, so that the usual 'skunk stripe' on the back is missing on this model. For the choice of wood, Fender uses a particularly high-quality piece of quarter sawn maple. The radially cut wood has continuous vertical growth rings from headstock to neck heel, which give the neck particular stability against fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Naturally, the two single-coil pickups used are also hand-wound in the FenderCustom store and reflect the multi-faceted sound of the classic Telecaster. In the bridge position, the Original Blackguard Single Coil provides the typical sound character of the Tele models of the same name with a particularly pronounced twang, while the Custom Shop "Twisted" Tele Single Coil produces authentic Tele growl in the neck position. Thanks to the additional Greasebucket Tone circuit, the trebles can be precisely reduced via the treble control without adding unwanted bass components to the signal.
