Audio-Technica Corporation was founded in 1962 by Hideo Matsushita. Inspired by the deep and emotional reactions he experienced at "record concerts" while working at the Bridgestone Museum of Arts in Tokyo, Matsushita made the decision, to offer more people the opportunity to experience the beauty and warmth of analog music - and so on April 17, 1962, he founded the company in his apartment in the Shinjuku district. There he began developing pickups.
Already the first two products, the models AT-1 and AT-3, were a huge success and allowed him to expand the business. Matsushita finally inaugurated its larger headquarters in Machida in 1963, where the company still operates today. The product range has since expanded to include other areas such as turntables, headshells, headphones and microphones.
