The compact sculpture by Modal Electronics, is a four-part polyphonic digital desktop synthesizer with virtual analog synthesis. A total of eight oscillators draw on a pool of mixable waveforms. FM, PWM and ring modulation are provided for oscillator modulation. Due to the total of 32 oscillators, the repertoire includes massive unisono sounds and distinctive chords as well as classical mono sounds and layered sounds. The elaborately generated basic sound is processed by a multimode morphing filter, which can continuously fade from lowpass to bandpass to highpass. The final touch is given by a distortion and a delay that can be synchronized to the clock.
Modulation & Memory
A total of three envelopes, four LFOs that can even reach audio rates and a modulation matrix with eight entries linking eight sources and 37 destinations leave nothing to be desired in terms of routing and modulation. The sculpture also features a real-time sequencer that can record up to four parameters in addition to notes. With the free MODALAPP, the instrument can be easily edited via iOS, OS X, Win7 (and higher) and Android 6 (and higher). With the app you have access to further modulation sources like velocity, aftertouch and modwheel. The 64 memory locations can also be conveniently managed with this app, of course they can be accessed on the device itself.
