Monitor controller with USB interface and headphone amplifier
The Behringer Monitor 2 USB is a low-cost monitor controller that can route 2 balanced signal inputs to 2 balanced outputs. Alternatively, a sound source can be connected directly to input B via USB. So you can connect your computer digitally. A third mono output can be used for a subwoofer, which can optionally be connected to the monitors. On the front panel there are 2 separately adjustable headphone outputs, so that the Monitor 2 can also be used as a headphone amplifier. The volume control has a grid and due to its size a very pleasant feel. Pushbutton switches conveniently assign inputs to outputs, and can also be used to mono or dim the output signal. A crossfeed control allows the width of the stereo panorama of the headphones to be matched to that of the monitors, enabling improved mixing with headphones.
At an attractive price, the Behringer Monitor 2 USB is very extensively equipped and can be used as a monitor controller and headphone amplifier.
Super practical switch between sources and monitors, fine tuning of the desired volume thanks to the big knob, 2 headphones out with independent volume control ... About anything one would like to see on a switchbox like this! And it is cheap, too...
The only 4-star qualification is for build quality: it is a sturdy case and the buttons feel ok, but the knobs feel "lightweight", I only would turn these gently not applying much force.
What you is what you get, nothing more; nothing less. It does its job and it does it okay for semi-professional loads
Critiques: No drivers available from Behringer. Support told me to get the ASIO4ALL drivers, but that ain't working chief
Get the device it's own USB controller. Ableton just crashed straight away when selecting this as a monitor output. Give it it's own dedicated USB controller and you'll be fine, it uses so much of the USB 2.0 bandwidth and with only, non optimisers, stock drivers it's really a necessity.
There's missing a phones button, just to turn it off. You can turn the gain to 0 per headset, but I rather leave it at the right volume when switching monitors real fas
Pros: It's small It's simple It has XLR outputs It has a good price for what you get (both not much(
