Improved A/D and D/A conversion: The Gen 2 offers higher audio quality with improved dynamic range and lower distortion. In particular, a dynamic range of 133 dB and a distortion factor of -129 dB are achieved.
HEXA Core DSP: The Gen 2 utilizes a more powerful HEXA Core DSP that provides more processing power for UAD plug-ins, making it possible to use more complex plug-in chains.
Immersive Audio Support: New is support for immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos up to 9.1.6, making the Gen 2 an ideal tool for multi-channel audio applications.
Apollo Monitor Correction: The second Generation now offers integrated Bass management and monitor calibration with Sonarworks technology to optimize monitoring.
New Software Features: Improvements in the UAD Console app, including Plugin Scenes, which simplify the management of complex signal routings and setups.
Improved clocking technology: The dual-crystal clocking technology in the G2 version reduces jitter and improves stability at all sample rates. This results in more precise synchronization and even better sound quality.
+24 dBu headroom switching: The ability to set the headroom to professional levels (+24 dBu) has been improved to work seamlessly with analog studio equipment.

Powerful HEXA Core DSP processing

The Apollo x16 Gen 2 is an 18 x 20 Thunderbolt audio interface designed specifically for professional music producers and studios. With its high-resolution audio conversion and powerful HEXA Core DSP, it offers a first-class platform for processing and recording audio of the highest quality. Thanks to the 16 x 16 analog inputs and outputs via DB-25 connectors , the device can be seamlessly integrated into professional studio setups, while the AES I/O (XLR) and word clock I/O (BNC) provide additional connectivity options.

The Apollo x16 Gen 2 supports formats up to 9.1.6 for immersive audio applications such as Dolby Atmos or Sony 360 Reality Audio , enabling professional multi-channel production. With the integration of Apollo Monitor Correction, powered by Sonarworks, the monitoring can be precisely calibrated to ensure that the audio output is optimal in every room. The combination of high-resolution 24-bit / 192 kHz converters and dual-crystal clocking ensures an extremely low jitter rate, resulting in a particularly clear and detailed sound image.

Flexible routing options and expandable setup

Another feature is the UAD Console app, which allows you to efficiently control the routing and monitoring of the plug-ins. With features such as Plugin Scenes and Bass management, the configuration can be quickly and easily adapted to the specific requirements of each session. Furthermore, the interface can be expanded in large studio setups by combining up to four Apollo x16 units for a total of 64 channels of A/D and D/A conversion. The system supports over 200 UAD DSP and native plug-ins and integrates seamlessly with popular DAWs such as LUNA, Logic Pro, Pro Tools and Ableton Live .

The suite of plug-ins included in the Apollo x16 Gen 2 enables versatile sound processing, from classic compressors and equalizers to modern audio effects. For demanding surround productions, the device also offers subwoofer integration and ALT monitoring in immersive modes. Thanks to the integrated monitor controller with talkback function, communication during recording can take place directly via the interface.
