This guitar looks like it came straight from the 80s. Love the neon orange color and the reverse headstock combined with the black hardware. The upgrade it got compared to the original model from '91 is the 5 piece neck, which is amazingly stable for it's ultra thin profile. The neck is very thin, but the rounded profile at the edges make it still very comfortable to play with the thumb over the fretboard. One thing though, the frets could have been polished a little bit more and the fret ends don't protude, but are a little bit sharp. I can fix that easily, so still very value for the money!! The body is a heavy piece of basswood, not the lightweight and soft stuff you get on cheap guitars. The guitar is about 3,65 kg. Because of this the guitar has very good sustain and low end, but still very crisp highs. The pickups are not spectacular, but do their job well. The bridge pickup is a bit dark sounding on its own, that's why the 4 stars, but it gives nice crisp strat like tones when combined with the neck pickup. All the in between sounds are amazingly clean and sparkly, absolutely inspiring from a Les Paul players end! The edge bridge is the best double locking trem ever, period! So smooth and stays in tune perfectly. The pots are big size Alpha's and feel a bit dry when turning, but sound just fine. Wiring is perfectly done and the fit and finish of the RG565 is top notch. Everything fits together perfectly, no gaps, and the finish is like a mirror. You cannot see the wood grain through the finish, which you cannot say from an expensive Gibson or Fender. All in all this guitar is one of my best buys ever. Took 1 day to arrive from Germany to the Netherlands, top service Music Store!!
