Under the down-to-earth name Schlagwerk Klangobjekte, one of today's most internationally successful companies in the percussion sector was founded about 25 years ago: Schlagwerk Percussion. The "parents" Gerhard Priel and Bengt Schumacher founded this company specialising in wooden percussion instruments.
Read more...In the beginning, Schlagwerk exclusively produced slit drums for the therapeutic and educational sector, but soon the high-quality Schlagwerk instruments from Germany also attracted the attention of active musicians. An expansion of the programme followed with the Udu Drums, Frame Drums, Small Percussion and of course Cajons. With the Cajon La Peru, the benchmark for sound and quality of a Cajon was redefined in the early 90s and international interest continued to grow. In the meantime, it is impossible to imagine the percussion world without these high-quality instruments, and Schlagwerk Percussion have earned themselves a regular place in almost every percussion set-up thanks to their innovative ideas and outstanding quality of craftsmanship. Percussion players such as Roland Peil, who works for and with the Fantastischen Vier, and Larry Eagle, rhythm maker for Bruce Springsteen, swear by the remarkably extensive percussion programme made in Germany.
