The Akai EWI 5000 is an Electronic Wind Instrument, with a 3GB Sound Library By SONiVOX. The AKAI WEI 5000 is the consistent advancement of the EWI series and will not just impress you with the integrated sound generation but also with the built-in wireless transmitter and the corresponding receiver. The sound generation includes virtual-analog synth sounds just like the EWI 4000, as well as high quality brass, woodwind and string sounds. The library was created by SONiVOX. The new Electronic Valve Instrument mode provides an even more realistic brass sound. Thanks to the built-in transmitter in digital 2.4Ghz range, the musician has the freedom to move around on stage.
The main features of the Akai EWI 5000 include:
3 GB sound library by SONiVOX
2.4 Ghz transmitter
12 metal pushbuttons and 8 octave rolls
controls for filter, reverb, chorus, LFO, breath amount, bite amount, semitone tuning, fine tuning
Consider that this is a separate instrument, not a kind of simulator. Contacts instead of buttons or valves provide greater fluency, but require more strict fingers/tongue interaction. The onboard sounds are quite good. External sounds are better, but it's nice to have at least both options. And it seems that you still have to have an audio interface to connect it to PC, otherwise it can lag.
